If it had not been for ～の意味と使い方
- 過去の仮定を表します。
- 「もし〜がなかったら（過去に別の結果になっていただろう）」という意味です。
（例文）
- If it had not been for your advice, I would have made a big mistake.
（君のアドバイスがなかったら、大きなミスをしていただろう。）
＊実際は助言があって、ミスをしなかった。
（使い方）
- If it had not been for you, I would have given up.
（君がいなかったら、あきらめていただろう。） - If it had not been for the rain, we would have played baseball.
（ 雨が降らなかったら、野球をしていただろう。） - If it had not been for the alarm, I would have been late.
（目覚ましがなかったら、遅刻していただろう。） - If it had not been for the teacher, I would have failed the test.
（先生がいなかったら、テストに落ちていただろう。） - If it had not been for GPS, we would have gotten lost.
