「so ~that・・」と「such~ that・・」について
「so ~ that」と「such ~ that」は、どちらも「とても〜なので…だ」という意味を持つ構文で、原因・結果を表す表現です。意味は似ていますが、文の構造が異なります。
1. so ～ that
（ 構文）
so + 形容詞 / 副詞 + that + 文
「とても（形容詞/副詞）なので〜だ」という意味になります。
（例文）
- She was so tired that she fell asleep.
（彼女はとても疲れていたので、眠ってしまった。） - He runs so fast that no one can catch him.
（彼はとても速く走るので、誰も彼を捕まえられない。）
- so の後には 形容詞や副詞 が来ます。
- that節には結果や影響が述べられます。
（使い方）
- The movie was so funny that I laughed a lot.
（その映画はとても面白かったので、たくさん笑いました。） - He speaks so fast that I can’t understand him.
（彼はとても速く話すので、私は彼の言うことが理解できません。） - It was so cold that the lake froze.
（とても寒かったので、湖が凍りました。）
2. such ～ that
（構文）
such + 名詞（句） + that + 文
「とても〜な（名詞）なので、…だ」という意味になります。
（例文）
- It was such a hot day that we stayed inside.
（とても暑い日だったので、私たちは中にいました。） - She is such a good singer that everyone loves her.
（彼女はとても上手な歌手なので、みんな彼女を好きになります。）
- such の後には 形容詞＋名詞（句）が来るのが基本です。
- 「a」「an」とセットになることも多いです（数えられる名詞の単数形）。
（使い方）
- He is such a good teacher that all the students respect him.
（彼はとても良い先生なので、生徒全員に尊敬されています。） - She made such a big cake that we couldn’t finish it.
（彼女はとても大きなケーキを作ったので、食べきれませんでした。） - They had such a great time that they didn’t want to leave.
（ 彼らはとても楽しい時間を過ごしたので、帰りたくありませんでした。）
