相関接続詞について
相関接続詞（そうかんせつぞくし）とは、文中の語・句・節をつなぐ接続詞のことです。これらは「Aも〜だし、Bも〜だ」「AかBか」「AではなくB」など、対になって意味を強調する働きをします。
（相関接続詞の例）
1. both A and B
・Both Tom and Jerry are funny.
（ トムもジェリーも面白いです。）
（使い方）
- Both my mom and my dad cook well.
（お母さんもお父さんも料理が上手です。） - Both the movie and the book were great.
（映画も本も素晴らしかったです。）
2. either A or B
・You can have either coffee or tea.
（コーヒーか紅茶のどちらかを選べます。）
（使い方）
- You can choose either red or blue.
（赤か青のどちらかを選んでください。） - We can have either pizza or pasta.
（ピザかパスタのどちらかを食べましょう。）
3. neither A nor B
・Neither my brother nor my sister can swim.
（兄も妹も泳げません。）
（使い方）
- Neither the dog nor the cat is outside.
（犬も猫も外にいません。） - Neither the movie nor the music was good.
（ 映画も音楽も良くありませんでした。）
4. not only A but also B
・She is not only smart but also kind.
（彼女は賢いだけでなく、親切でもあります。）
（使い方）
- The book is not only interesting but also useful.
（その本は面白いだけでなく、役に立ちます。） - She speaks not only English but also Spanish.
（彼女は英語だけでなくスペイン語も話します。）
5. whether A or B
・I don’t know whether he will come or not.
（彼が来るかどうか分かりません。）
（使い方）
- Let me know whether you agree or disagree.
（賛成か反対か教えてください。） - I can’t decide whether to stay or leave.
（残るか出発するか決められません。）
6. not A but B
・He is not a teacher but a student.
（彼は先生ではなく、学生です。）
（使い方）
- It was not John but Mary who called.
（電話をかけてきたのはジョンではなくメアリーでした。） - We ate not fish but chicken.
（私たちは魚ではなくチキンを食べました。）
